Development of somatic embryogenesis as a propagation method for ornamental eucalypts – Progress Report

Progress report on the Australian Flora Foundation funded project:

Margaret Sedgley (University of Adelaide)

Somatic embryogenesis, the production of seed-like embryos through tissue culture, could be a valuable means of vegetatively propagating hybrid eucalypts such an ‘Urrbrae Gem’. Good progress has been made with the establishment of a protocol for the production of friable callus, the first step towards somatic embryogenesis.
